Usually I have a favorite card I can't wait for you to make... but this month, I like them all.  Each card is very different and has it own merits.  They all are on the simple side and ready for you to call your own - they are perfect for mass production (your 2009 holiday card)!

#1 - Tri Shutter card:

Janice has made quite a few cards using this lay out.  They are beautiful.  While playing around during Girlfriends Weekend in Oregon, she shared the design/layout with us.  I knew we had to do this. 

#2 - Pinecone card:

I saw a card similar to this at Convention this summer.  The card is plain and simple... but wonderful.  There's nothing like Dazzling Diamonds on holiday cards... it's sooo sparkly! 

#3 - Proud Deer card:

This project uses SU's Big Shot Movers & Shapers.  This was my challenge this month... to use this die.  The die has so many inserts and I can see it will be LOTS of fun.

Girlfriends Weekend - October

Here are a few photos from our Girlfriends Weekend on OR.  Oh my, did we have fun! 

We were lucky enough to have Kathy's & her husband drive us from the airport (to a craft store) and to Momma's place. 

We hauled our luggage into our rooms and started stampin.  We each brought a shoebox to share with the other stampers (each making 4 cards from each box).  Here are a few photos and a close up of everyone's project.

We took turns making dinner each night...  we had a wonderful time!

Fall is in the air! 

This month's projects are all 'taking in' those beautiful autumn colors! 

Project #1 is the Waterfall Card. 

You've all seen it and loved it.  'We have got to do THAT card.'  I saw a card made using this stamp set in the traditional autumn colors.  I wanted to try it in autumn + fresh/crisp colors.  I used the color wheel and LOVE this color combo!  It is much easier than you might think.  This card is very impressive.  It works great for a b-day or party invite.  You can have party details on each flap.  I've made this card in spring colors with little flower on each panel, or for Halloween and spookie faces on each panel.  

Project #2 is an elegant Christams project.  I love the dove (okay, even more now that he's all glittery and blinging)...  While working on this project, I colored the background flower many different colors.  Tony insisted on the traditional red/green... you know, the bright red/green.  I kept asking, what about artichoke or olive... 'nope, GREEN'.  So, when we make this project, you'll have quite a few colors to choose from for your background.  After all that playing around (yep, plenty of samples to share for color choice), I've decided I like the plain 'ole white on white... no color.  The sample below is bashful blue. The textured background is using an embossing folder (and Big Shot) from the mini catalog.  WOW, those embossing folders sure do texture your paper in a big way!  The super smooth SU paper becomes a big delicate after texturing it.  The oval/scallop frame is cut on the Big Shot with a die.  After the oval is cut, I used a hand hole punch for the holes. 

This project would be good for mass production!  I can't wait for you to do this one!

Project #3 - as voted on by YOU!  The pheasant card. 

Last month we used this stamp set, Autumn Days for a very simple elegant card.  This card again, is very simple.  The twill ribbon... Okay, I've had this ribbon for a long time in my ribbon drawer.  I've used the small and medium regularly, but have had a hard time finding a project to use this big stuff on...  Wha, Laa!  It's perfect here.  We'll also be using Build-a-Brad (always lots of fun). 

A Birthday Card or Two or (five)

I think each and every family has a month or two when there are LOTS of b-days (or events) to be celebrated.  They all seem to be bunched together.  This is one of my special/celebration annual seasons.  I have a handful of very close girlfriends that are celebrating their b-day (and brother Rob too). 

I made this card for 'the Dianes'.  Do they like orange???  I don't know.  Do I like orange, no.  BUT, I'm facing my fears and living on the dangerous side.  I love this layout and card!  As a gift, I've made a sample card, wrapped up the stamp set and wrapped up the materials for them to make 20 of this same card.  (I'd like to receive that as a gift!)  What do you think?

And, Beate!  My dear friend Beate!  I wanted to send her an orange card (since I was so pleased with them...) but decided to give her one of these cards instead... since it goes with her gift.  Beate has young kids in school and is surrounded by new babies, weddings, anniversaries, kid b-day parties.  I figured this would be a good fit for her.  The cards are SO simple, but much cuter in person! 

 

there are little bits of glitter floating above their entangled antlers (okay, antenna)...  so cute!

I think little Katie would love to help out making these cards for her friends! 

 

Stamp-a-Stack - Saturday, October 24, 2009

We are accepting sign ups now!

Please join Janice and I for another event . . . one we hope will get you in the holiday spirit!! Choose from the card designs below and let us know how many of each card you'd like to make. You can make all of the same card, or you can "mix and match". You will pay $1.00 per card you make . . . that's it!! (no "class fee") You'll need to bring your own choice of adhesives: everything else, including all the pre-cut paper, will be supplied. The idea is to get all your holiday cards made in one afternoon . . .and BE DONE!! We'll also supply treats, beverages, and snacks. You'll need to choose your cards and quantities, and pre-pay, by FRIDAY NOON, October 16th!! That day will be here before you know it!! Email either of us if you have questions! THANKS!

Well, Summer Stamp Camp has come and gone . . . .and other than being a little too crowded and not having enough air conditioning in the room at Round Table Pizza, it was a smashing success!! Thank you to our many attendees and helpers! We've already had a lot of comments back that everyone had a good time and loved the projects! So - for those of you who didn't go - here's what you missed!!

Waterfall Card for Oregon Shoebox in October

I love this card...  Should we make this card as one of next month's projects?  Let me know if you are up to the task, or it looks too hard!  (shh... it's not too bad...)

 

When you pull the atrichoke ribbon, the panels flip under/around...  Gotta love movement cards. 

Early October the girlfriends and I are headed up to Momma's in Oregon.  Get this... we'll fly in and instead of getting our usual rental car, one of Momma's stampers, Kathy & her husband will be picking us up in their limo!!!  I am hoping Momma, Diane & Nancy will be hiding in the limo too.  Can't you already hear all the girl giggles!!????  They are kind enough to offer to bring us back to the airport. 

Notice how I'm not hinting toward my excitement of the WHOLE trip???  Oh, I can't wait.  Thursday thru Tuesday, full of non-stop stampin WITHOUT feeling like I really should ...  (bla bla bla)...  I plan to bring only jammies and pearls!  Okay, perhaps a few pairs of heals.  Let me take you on a quick mental vacation...  roll out of bed at a comfortable time, grab the perfect cup of coffee (Coffee Mate here I come...  Donna & I love the flavors...), sit down at the stampin table in front of the best ever projects and try to wake up.  Before you know it, you're waking up and grabbing another cup of coffee and stampin with that caffinated jitter!  Bill loves to make his huge yummy breakfasts!  Maybe by noon, you might feel the need to shower - which we'll do at our leisure, but return back to jammies/or lounge clothes...  The projects are always incredible, the company is the best...  Bottom line: It's good to be ME!  Surrounded by the best girlfriends!  : ) 4+ straight days of this!  OMG!

I know I say this every month, but I LOVE our projects this month!!!   The projects all seem to have the theme of 'less is more'.  Usually, I give you too many choices and try to include many new techniques... but this month we are going simple. 

The 1st project is very simple (and elegant) - the wheat card.  This stamp set is seems to be known for the pheasant (we'll use that stamp next month).  This month, we'll feature the wheat stamp.  This card uses textured vanilla (or white) paper, chocolate ink and chocolate ribbon.  Wait till you see it in person.

 

Project #2 is the Birdcage card.  This card is for Diane B...  she saw it and insisted we make this project for her hostess month!  We'll be using the Medallion b.g. stamp for the background; fine supernova glitter for the chocolate bling; chocolate sponging; and bigshot for the chocolate frame. All the stamps are from Chic Boutique.  Cute, huh?

 

Project #3 - clock (kinda a man card).  I was surprised how much I really, really like this project!  Yep, had to sneak in at least one new technique!  We will be using tissue paper (gift wrap type); Big Shot to texture the colored paper (2 choices, chocolate or blue) - plenty of texture plates to choose from; choice of words, button if you'd like and choice of ribbon.  This card still is simple, but it's easy to whip out in a hurry!

Holiday Mini Swap Card

This is my August swap.  The stamp set, Serene Snowflake, is in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog.  I love this stamp set... along with 90% of the other sets/supplies in the new mini (darn it!). 

I knew exactly what I planned to do with this stamp set.  Don't cha love the new dsp?
